Dear Competitor,
Thank you for your interest in participating in our third annual Tri-State BBQ Festival. Somevery exciting changes have taken place since last year and we are hard at work ensuring that this year’s competition will be enjoyable and fun for everyone. Here are some of the details that you’ll want to know:
Arrival may begin on Thursday, May 15 at 9:00 a.m. and must be completed by 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 16. Departure time may begin after Awards Ceremony and must end by 12 noon on Sunday. RV parking with electric and water is included for Friday night and if you wish to come in on Thursday or stay over on Saturday night, it is an additional $25 per night (tax included) and must be requested and paid for in advance by the application deadline.
Due to limited space, applications submitted are not guaranteed acceptance to the contest.
Applications will be on first come, first serve basis and may be reserved with payment only.
All entries must be received by April 25, 2008. Application fees must accompany entry form, and unfortunately, entry fees are not refundable.
There will be a mandatory Cook’s Meeting on Friday, May 16 at 6:00 p.m. with a ‘welcome party’ to follow. There’ll be live entertainment, food and refreshments for all the teams at the ‘welcome party’ and you won’t want to miss it!
Cook sites are 20’ x 40’ for both pro teams and backyard teams and there will be water and 30 amp electric hook-ups at each site (you must have your own adapter). If you require a 50 amp electrical hook up, there will be an extra $15 cost to have one installed for you. These
spots are limited, and available on a first-pay basis. There are centrally located rest rooms,
and cook site portable toilets are available for $60 and must be reserved in advance by calling Portable Toilets directly at (334) 794-2144. Ice will be available for purchase upon arrival and on Saturday.
This year’s competition is being hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Dothan, and proceeds raised
from the competition will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. One new feature of 2008
permits contestants to vend BBQ directly to the spectators on Saturday. Anyone interested in selling in this manner will be required to obtain a Houston County vendors license, avaiable by calling the Probate Office at (334) 677-4742. Please note on the application if you will
be vending BBQ,
Thank you again for your interest in the Tri-State BBQ festival. If I can help in any way, please call me at (334) 699-1475 or e-mail me at kerry@themaineventweb.com
