Tri-State BBQ Festival announces CenturyLink as title sponsor in 2010

DOTHAN- The Tri-State BBQ Festival is pleased to announce that CenturyLink, Dothan’s leading local provider of high-quality broadband, voice and entertainment services, will continue its participation as the festival’s title sponsor.
            Now in its fifth year, the Tri-State BBQ Festival, held at the Houston County Farm Center, draws teams from around the Southeast. The event is a sanctioned stop on the Florida BarBQue Association competition tour, and is also a qualifier for the Triple Crown Competition and the Jack Daniels’ Invitational. There is a maximum field of sixty teams that can compete in either the professional division or the backyard division of the event.
            The event has awarded over $45,000 in cash prizes to the top teams both overall and each of the four meats cooked; brisket, butt, chicken and ribs. Trophies and cash are awarded through tenth place in these categories.
            The Tri-State BBQ Festival presented by CenturyLink is also a fundraiser for the Wiregrass Chapter of the March of Dimes. Attendees may watch the competition, as well as sample pulled pork from many teams. Admission is $5 per person, and also includes live entertainment, a play area for children and a huge selection of arts and crafts vendors from around the tri-state area.
            Though the teams will arrive in town by Friday, April 9, the event is only open to the general public on Saturday April 10, 2010, from 10 am until 9 pm. The final concert of the night will be at 6 pm on the main stage, featuring Nashville chart topper Braden Gray. Admission to the concert is included with the general admission ticket.
